Green Hammerton driver Miles Johnston finished fifth in the Gold Star at the Dukeries Stages Rally in Sherwood Forest - despite driving the last four stages in a "mobile sauna".
Johnston and co-driver Mark Andrews' Peugeot 106 suffered damage to the radiator fan and cowling on stage six second time around - and to keep the engine as cool as possible had to finish the rally with the heater on.
It made driving difficult on the last two stages of the Mansfield-based event, which were the longest of the rally with only a short road section giving insufficient time to cool the car down.
However, the pair still enjoyed the race and were delighted with fifth spot. Johnston said: "We have had a really good result today and have enjoyed every corner of every stage, even if it was like driving a mobile sauna."
The TI Motorsport-prepared, Linden Garage and Nortel Networks-sponsored car otherwise ran faultlessly throughout, and the team are now looking forward to the next round of the Peugeot Super 106 Cup, namely next weekend's all-tarmac Jim Clark Memorial Rally, which runs through the night on June 30-July 1.
The next BTRDA event is the Quinton Rally, which is also a Super 106 Cup round, at the end of July.
