Paul Hutchison will replace Darren Gough, who has been told to stand down by England, when Yorkshire Phoenix attempt to complete the double over Gloucestershire Gladiators at Bristol tomorrow.

The game marks the start of a hectic period of three Norwich Union National League matches in four days for Yorkshire and they have been asked to play Gough in only two of them.

As a result, they have wisely decided to spare him tomorrow's long return trip and keep him fresh for Sunday's clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Headingley and Tuesday's day-night Roses match at Old Trafford.

Spectators at the Bristol and Headingley matches will be admitted through the turnstiles free of charge, courtesy of Norwich Union who are throwing open all their fixtures over the weekend.

Norwich Union spokesman Bill Reynolds said: "We hope that thousands take up the offer, some to see cricket for the first time at this level and others to rediscover our national summer sport.

"Everyone stands to benefit, including the players, who always respond to the atmosphere generated by bigger crowds."

Thanks largely to Craig White's hat-trick, Phoenix beat Kent Spitfires by 24 runs at Headingley last Sunday to put themselves back in the title race and wins over Gladiators and Steelbacks will further strengthen their claims.

Last year, Gloucestershire soured Yorkshire's summer by hammering them in the Benson and Hedges Super Cup final at Lord's and also beating them in the NatWest Trophy semi-final at Bristol, but now Yorkshire can turn the tables by doing the double over Gladiators.

The sides clashed at Headingley five weeks' ago when Phoenix won by 35 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method for calculating rain-hit matches.

And Gloucestershire's confidence will not have been helped by losing to Worcestershire in the third round of the NatWest Trophy on Wednesday although Phoenix will be on the lookout for a backlash.
