Yorkshire have disciplined their star Australian batsman Darren Lehmann after he was reported to Lord's by umpires John Harris and Graham Burgess for an incident during the Championship match against Durham at Riverside a fortnight ago.
Yorkshire chief executive Chris Hassell declined to say what measures had been taken against Lehmann, but he said that the club had written to Lord's outlining their action and they hoped that England and Wales Cricket Board would now consider the matter adequately dealt with.
Trouble flared on the third and final day of the match with Burgess wagging his finger at Lehmann, who was fielding at mid-wicket when James Middlebrook had an appeal for lbw rejected by the umpire.
The batsman, Martin Speight, was stumped giving Middlebrook's next ball the charge and Burgess again took up his argument with Lehmann while Harris had a word with Yorkshire skipper David Byas.
During the tea interval, both umpires said they were not taking the matter any further and declined to comment, but apparently they did report Lehmann for dissent over an incident which had occurred earlier.
The likely explanation is that the umpires were unhappy with remarks made by Lehmann, possibly after another appeal had been turned down.
If Lord's are not satisfied that Yorkshire's action is strong enough, then Lehmann could appear in front of the ECB's own disciplinary committee.
