AN EIGHT-year-old boy has won his step-dad a ride on an army tank in York after winning a Father's Day competition.
Simon Murray, from Leeds, sent an e-mail describing what made his dad special in the Supadad competition organised by the Internet service, Supanet.
His winning prize is a trip to York this weekend with his family including tickets for the races and a tank ride around the city's outer ring road courtesy of the Queen's Own Yeomanry, for his step-dad, Richard Newby-Wright.
Capt Mick Morris will introduce them to the monster machine.
Richard recently had his spleen taken out, and his wife Samantha donated bone marrow not long ago.
Simon's prize-winning entry read: "My dad is the best. He is my best friend, he always listens to me and comes to watch me at school when I am in plays and stuff. If I need to go anywhere he takes me and he always tells me he loves me and he helps me with my homework. I am very lucky to have a good dad. Please let him win the prize."
