A THUNDEROUS bomber aircraft will take off from the runway at the Yorkshire Air Museum, at Elvington, York, this weekend, as a preview of the Great Yorkshire Air Show.
The mighty Victor V Bomber is one of only two working examples of the Handley Page aircraft left in the world.
It will be powered up for a trial run this afternoon, with a full run, requiring parachute braking, taking place tomorrow afternoon.
The Victor was one of three V bombers designed in the 1950s, and the radically-designed aircraft saw action right up until the Falklands conflict of 1982.
The museum's huge airport fire engine will be in attendance in case of emergency.
Entry is £4 for adults and £3 for pensioners and children aged 5-16.
Full catering and refreshments are available from the restaurant and bar.
The museum is open from 10.30am to 5pm.
