THE caption to the picture of me declaring the opening the new cash machine at HSBC Stamford Bridge (June 9) and receiving a £50 donation to give to charity, stated that I would give it to the British Legion Poppy Appeal to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Dunkirk.
No so. In general conversation I said it was the anniversary of D Day (June 6). Your journalist must have thought that D was for Dunkirk.
Please enlighten him. Although I am the poppy organiser for the area, I did not think it fair to grab the lot for the appeal, and I am splitting it between the British Legion, the Macmillan Nurses and the village appeal fund to buy a defibrillator.
