YORK City could find themselves facing old foes Scarborough again next season - if a proposal for a change in the format of the Auto Windscreens Shield gets the go-ahead.
A number of suggestions are currently under consideration by the Football League to create more interest in the competition among supporters.
One of those is to introduce Nationwide Conference clubs into the first round which could see the Seadogs pitted against the Minstermen.
In the past only Division Two and Three clubs have contested the Shield.
A Football League spokesman said: "We are looking at ways we can improve the competition and increase the amount of interest in it.
"A number of proposals are on the table and one of those is introducing Conference clubs, although their ground would have to meet Football League standards."
That would make Scarborough prime candidates to take part as they have only been out of the Football League for one season.
They would also be high up in the pecking order having finished fourth in the Conference last season.
The Under-16 international between Brazil and Thailand at Bootham Crescent on Thursday, July 13, will kick-off at 7.15pm and not as was reported in yesterday's Evening Press. The incorrect kick-off time was supplied by the Football Association.
