Selby's Matthew Bugg was leading the York-area challenge in the Yorkshire Amateur stroke-play championship after two rounds at Pannal.
Bugg shot a 73 and 71 to stand six shots off the lead.
The joint leaders were Sand Moor's Roger Hollins, who shot 71 and 67, and Doncaster's Yorkshire Amateur match-play champion Graeme Clark, who rolled in a 20 yard putt for a birdie on the 18th to ensure he had a share of the lead having shot consecutive 69s.
Moortown's Stephen East was eight shots off the lead with rounds of 76 and 70, level with Malton and Norton's Neil Smith (73, 73), while a shot further back is Catterick's Roger Roper (75,72).
