YORK City are set to swoop for a striker in the next few days.

Manager Terry Dolan will not say who he has in mind but confirmed today that a move for an attacker was afoot.

Dolan, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Sunday, said his priority when he first came to City back in February was to strengthen the lacklustre defence. But with that aim fulfilled and safety assured, the boss has turned his attention to boosting City's firepower.

The Minstermen had the worst scoring record in division three last season with only 39 goals in 46 games.

Dolan said: "There could be something in the pipeline and there might be something to report in the next few days. It's a case of who's available."

Meanwhile, the future of goalkeeper Alan Fettis remains in the balance. The Northern Ireland international, signed on a free from Blackburn in March until the end of the season, is now out of contract, and has been linked with a move to Burnley.

However, as the players are still on post-season holiday, City have not been able to discuss his future with the Minstermen. Dolan added: "I've not heard anything from Alan or from Burnley. All I know of the rumours is what I've read in the media," he said.
