A LEATHER bound copy of a log book detailing the flying career of a Battle of Britain ace is to be the star prize in a Ryedale pub quiz.
The limited edition book, which was used by Squadron Leader Robert Stanford Tuck, is the reward for the top score in the quiz at the Crown and Cushion, Welburn, near Castle Howard.
The quiz is being held on Monday, June 19, at 8pm to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
The log book, which is worth nearly £50, is handwritten by Squadron Leader Stanford Tuck and includes details of his operations and kills during the Second World War. The booby prize is a week's wartime rations. There will also be a raffle. All proceeds from the quiz go to Bulmer Entertainments Committee, which sponsors events for children.
