ALTHOUGH doves are traditionally a symbol of peace, two new additions to the team at Oscars wine bar in York are thriving without it.

Peace and quiet is something the two dove chicks, which are nesting above the front door to the bar just inches from a loud speaker, can obviously do without.

The loud music which plays to customers in the beer garden way past the doves' bedtime, has done nothing to stunt their growth as cellar man Julian has noticed over the three weeks since they first appeared.

And customers have also been commenting on the chicks on their way to the bar.

Amy Smith, a member of the bar staff, said: "Our cellar man Julian noticed them first and he has been keeping a watchful eye on them.

"They are just above the main door near the speaker but it doesn't seem to have bothered them at all.

"They look quite big now so I don't think it will be long before they fly the nest."
