AN ANIMAL lover who runs a cats protection shelter at her North Yorks home is appealing for new homes for some of her "residents."
Jackie Bower, of Back Lane, North Duffield, said she still had some of the kittens she took in last year, who were now desperate for homes.
She said: "They came to me as eight-week-old ferals, and it has taken me a long time to tame them.
"These poor cats have spent their whole lives in a pen, and at this time of year everyone wants tiny, cuddly kittens, not timid, almost fully-grown cats.
"They need very special homes with quiet families, no children and away from busy roads. They will be traumatised by re-homing, but with patience and lots of tender loving care will make exceptional little cats."
The cats include Neelix, Odo and Kira, one-year-old, oriental-looking jet black cats, and Snap and Pop (Crackle has been re-homed), two black and white sisters from a farm near Selby.
Mrs Bower said Snap and Pop were very affectionate, but wary of strangers.
Also on the homing list is Pandora, a four-year-old who likes to be stroked and talked to - and Murphy and Henry, two ginger and white brothers who love a cuddle and human company.
Anyone who is interested in giving a home to any of these cats should contact Mrs Bower on 01757 288242.
