MALTON and Norton golfer Simon Dyson was left to rue a slip in his recent consistent form in the inaugural Wales Open at Celtic Manor.
The 22-year-old was handily placed after par 72s in his opening rounds and then a third round 70.
However, he slipped back down the rankings as he shot a 75 in the final round for an overall 289 - 16 shots off the wining score.
Swindon's David Howell was trying to put on a brave face after his near miss at Celtic Manor after he failed from just three feet on the 17th to blow his chance of a second tour win, an error that cost him more than £40,000.
He finished one shot behind the winner, Denmark's Steen Tinning, who ended a 14-year win drought with a closing round of 69 for a 15-under-par total of 273.
