Runaway leaders Easingwold suffered their first defeat in the Costcutter York and District Senior Cricket League when they were beaten by 53 runs at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
Bridge's whom Pakistan paceman Shakil Nawaz claimed a stunning 6-45 in 24 overs.
Clifton Alliance eased back into second place with a comfortable nine wicket win at Pocklington which prevented the home side gaining a single point.
Thirsk snapped out of their poor run with an eight wicket win at Driffield after Barry Petty's 6-53 had engineered a collapse from 58-1 to 138 all out. Neil Stephenson made 71 for the visitors.
There were advantage draws for Woodhouse Grange, Acomb and Osbaldwick at the expense of Pickering, Heworth and Whitkirk.
There were two remarkable partnerships. John Flintoff (117no) and Matthew Till (116no) added 237 in an unbroken stand for Sessay at Goole Town but the most resilient and frustrating liaison occurred at Carlton Towers where Pocklington's last pair defied the home bowlers to add an unbroken last wicket stand of 71 which took their side from almost certain defeat to a draw.
Coming together at 51-9, Phil Eastwood scored 42no and Simon Hill 39no to take their side to 122-9, just 24 runs short of victory.
Stillington's Collis King hit his 17th century in the league when he made 141 out of his side's 231-7 against Woodhouse Grange.
King is now joint third in the list of century makers alongside Dunnington's Pat Wood, with only Richard Sykes and Brian Flintoff ahead of him.
New Earswick's John Routledge had the day's best bowling figures when he took 8-74 at Rowntrees.
Routledge who spent a season in the Rowntree fold a few years ago also claimed a hat-trick but was still on the losing side when his batsmen failed miserably.
In the premier division Sheriff Hutton Bridge moved into fourth place in the table when they pulled off a shock win over the previously unbeaten leaders Easingwold, who still have a healthy 29 point lead over their nearest rivals.
Paul Oldfield made 60 and Mike Smith 39 in a third wicket stand of 91 which laid a solid foundation for the Bridge.
Dan Copeland took 4-42 off 15 overs, but the home side were able to reach 172-8.
Oldfield then held a fine slip catch to help Smith remove the league's leading run scorer Matthew Schenke off the first ball of Easingwold's innings.
The visitors never recovered from this dramatic setback and succumbed to some hostile pace bowling from Shakil Nawaz, who recorded his best figures of the season taking 6-45 in 24 overs.
Kevin Hollinrake offered stern resistance, but eventually was tempted into hooking a Nawaz bouncer only to see his mis-hit pouched at square leg to dismiss him for 20.
Paul Redshaw seemed likely to earn a draw but saw the last wicket fell off the final ball of the penultimate over when leg spinner Alistair Sinclair had Jason Sergeant caught at slip to leave Easingwold 119 all out.
There was a fascinating draw at Whitkirk where the home side narrowly failed to match Osbaldwick's total of 207-8.
Steve Jackson made 55 and Dave Cooper 51 in the first wicket stand of 86 then Aussie Adam Kratzman chipped in with 30 as Osbaldwick claimed full batting points.
Whitkirk's reply was spearheaded by Mark Selth 46 and Andy Marsh 34, but three wickets apiece by Steve Machen and Peter Machin restricted Whitkirk to 202-9.
The Simpson brothers were in opposition when Heworth entertained Acomb with home skipper David getting the better of the personal encounter when he ran brother Steven out with a direct hit.
However, Acomb had the better of the match when they gained an advantage draw despite Mark Bell's 7-52 for the home team.
Richard Sykes played his most productive innings to date when he hit 50 for Acomb, while Joey Burton supported with 26 in a total of 180-8 after Dave Sykes had conceded 32 runs of 23 overs, while claiming three wickets and Richard Clayton also bagged 3- 43.
West Indian Terry Rollock, who has taken over the captaincy at Woodhouse Grange, led his side to the better of a draw with second placed Pickering Jonathan Bean 74 and Nick Hadfield 70 posted a century opening stand of 109.
Current champions Clifton Alliance moved above Pickering into second place after dismissing Pocklington for 97.
Dave Taylor made 54no for Clifton and team-mate Joel Southam took 4-44 and made 37. Matt Atkinson top scored for the hosts with 37, while Southam was backed up by John Hunter who claimed 3 for 21.
After their dismal Bank Holiday showing, Thirsk had a morale boosting victory at Driffield, who went down by eight wickets.
Indian Ankur Sondhi who made 34 and John Wooley, the former Hornsea player, who made 33, got Driffield off to a flying start as they raced to 58-1, but the metronomic Barry Petty took control and his eventual 6 for 53 had the home side all out for 138.
When Thirsk batted, Aussie Lincoln McCrae made 39, but Neil Stephenson took the batting honours with 71 as Thirsk cruised to an eight wicket victory.
