The table-topping clash at New Earswick saw the home team replace their opponents Yapham at the top of division four after gaining a six wicket victory.

Steve Walker made an unbeaten 42 and Clive Clark 34 for the visitors, but Andy Freeman's 5-15 had Yapham on the back foot at 126-9.

Andrew Scott hit back with 4-47 but Craig Stimpson made 39 and James Routledge an unbeaten 36 as Earswick took the honours.

Huntington edged to a one wicket win at Thirsk with Wally Baynes taking 5-52 and Dave Walton 35 and Len Watson 31 easing them to 127-9.

John Harper had made 55 of Thirsk's 126-8 then Martin Palliser 4-38 and Andy Chandler 3-32 narrowly failed to mount a successful defence.

A third wicket partnership of 83 between Steve Lawson 81 and Richard Knapp 29 helped Carlton Towers to 145-7 against Pocklington.

Steve Landers, 5-36, and Phil Day, 3-25, then reduced Pocklington to 51-9 and seemingly certain defeat.

Paul Eastwood and Simon Hill then mounted a stunning rearguard action which not only staved off defeat, but got Pocklington amazingly close to their opponents' score as they added 71 in an unbroken last wicket stand which saw Pocklington close at 122-9.

An unbeaten 68 from Dave Ellis, coupled with 34 from Craig Hunter, helped Sheriff Hutton Bridge to an advantage draw over Selby which moved them off the foot of the table.

The Bridge scored 146-6 then restricted Selby, whose Andy Jarvis made 37.

The bottom place is now occupied by Sheriff Hutton who could only make 113-8 when chasing a Tadcaster Magnet total of 143-8.

Neil Haffenden made 44 and Nick Morton 40no for Magnet as Rob Armitage took 4-26.

In response, Andrew Johnson made 39 but John Reynolds with 4-45 and Tyrine Naude 3-30 gained the home side the major share of the points.
