YORKSHIRE County Cricket Club have offered an Academy contract to Easingwold School student Nick Thornicroft.
He is one of three of their young players on scholarships who have shown outstanding form this season.
The others are Batley Grammar School student, David Stiff, a 6ft 3in strike bowler and Menston St Mary's Comprehensive School student Joe Sayers, a left-hand batsman who was captain of England Schools last season.Thornicroft, a right arm fast bowler with Sheriff Hutton, will probably partner Stiff in the England side in the Under 15s World Cup, sponsored by Dunnington-based supermarket chain Costcutter, which starts next month.
The Tykes have given a full contract to 22-year-old Oldham-born left-hander Scott Richardson, who scored two centuries last season for Leicestershire Seconds without making it into their first team.
Richardson, who captained Manchester Grammar School, has been on trial with Yorkshire this season and has made a big impression with his batting in the second team, scoring 72 not out against Lancashire, 69 v Durham and 71 v Worcestershire.
