York-based golfer Stephen East was today continuing his challenge for the English Amateur championship after making it through to the third round.
Moortown player East, formerly of York, Fulford and Filey, was taking on American Rick Woulfe at Holyake.
East, the England mid-amateur champion for the last two years, was impressive in winning his second round match against L Rhind of Uphall by one hole yesterday.
Woulfe beat Bolton's S Parry at the 19th. East and Middlesbrough's Jonathan Lupton are Yorkshire's only representatives in the third round.
Frazer Kelley of Ganton went out in qualifying earlier this week.
