THE storms last Saturday night resulted in severe flooding in our part of the north. They caused total disruption on the railway between York and Darlington early on Sunday, with water apparently two feet deep on the line.
As one of many passengers needing to travel north that day, I would like to commend the York station staff for the strenuous efforts they made to organise alternative arrangements to help us reach our various destinations.
Within about an hour a comfortable coach arrived to convey many of us heading for Durham and Newcastle.
