YORK RI ended their York Badminton League Ladies division one season as unbeaten champions with a 6-3 away win over Rowntree.

Heather Powell and Joyce Petch totalled 90-25 in scoring three straight wins.

Tadcaster Ladies ended their season with an 8-1 win at home to Knavesmire. Carol Topping and Margaret Gardiner totalled 100-50 in three wins. Knavesmire's Heather Richardson and Carol Bell beat A Jackson and M Harrad 11 and 12.

In mixed division one Students 'A' won 9-0 over a Selby 77 'A' side who had only two pairings.

Sue Cooper and Russell Binns totalled 60-19 in two wins.

Riverside gained promotion to mixed division one after a 7-2 home win over Clifton 'C'.

Gwen Bentley and John Fowler totalled 90-32, including a three and five win over Mick Melville and Melanie Knowles, who gained both Clifton's wins.

Melville and Knowles scored two wins for Clifton 'C' in a 6-3 defeat away to Drax 'B'. Melville and Knowles lost 13 and 12 to Andrew Dunning and Sue Matchett, who completed their maximum for a return of 90-50.

Ian Sinker and Marlene Woodward totalled 90-30 in three wins as York RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' won 7-2 away to Millthorpe 'B' in mixed division three.

Sinker and Woodward's performance included a four and two win over Sam Watson and Anne Gray, who gained both Millthorpe's wins.

Lynne Lyall and Mark Barker totalled 90-38 in three wins as Rowntree 'C' won 6-3 away to Pocklington 'B' in mixed division three.

Derrick Rastall and Val Nolton scored two wins for Pocklington 'B' but lost 12 and three to Lyall and Barker.

York University Staff Club 'A' secured second spot in mixed division four with a 7-2 home win over Selby 77 'B'. Nicky Rolley and Andy Brown totalled 109-92 in three wins, including a tough 11-15, 15-11, 17-15 win over Mark Harris and Carol Hearn.

Selby 77 'B' bounced back with wins over Tadcaster 86 'B' (8-1) and RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' (6-3). Selby's Lisa Ward and John Hardy took maximums in both matches for a six rubber total of 190-127.

Selby Jubilee 'A' finished second in mixed division five with a 6-3 away win over Middlethorpe. Neil Richardson and Val Bell totalled 90-49 in three wins for Jubilee, including an 11 and 11 victory over Ann Oxley and Ian Thompson, who scored two wins for Middlethorpe.

The final league tables, to be published shortly in the Evening Press, will show some unplayed fixtures. These are subject to decision by the League management committee and the outcome will be passed to all clubs at the league's annual meeting in September.
