Ground: Boothferry Park
Capacity: 13,000
Last season: 21st
Manager: Warren Joyce
Ins: Lee Bracey goalkeeper from Ipswich Town on a Bosman; Jamie Wood striker from Manchester United, free; John Eyre striker from Scunthorpe; Jason Harrison striker £50,000 from Preston; Jon Schofield defender from Mansfield, free; Steve Harper midfielder from Mansfield, free.
Outs: Gary Oakes goalkeeper sold to Derby County for £425,000; Greg Rioch defender to Macclesfield, free.
Chances: From the great escape to gigantic expectations that's the mega-leap made by Hull City. Buoyed by the rule of ex-Burnley man Warren Joyce, which led the Tigers from a seemingly impossible position at the foot of the table to just three losses in their last 25 games Hull are riding a rare crest of confidence. Some 3,000 season tickets have been sold and in the past three weeks Hull's odds of being crowned champions have shortened by more than half from 33-1. The dark days of player-manager Mark Hateley and David Lloyd are fast fading from the Boothferry Park memory. Former Scarborough player David D'Auria has retained the captaincy.
One to watch: Jason Harris. Quick, strong, and has notched several goals in a busy pre-season programme.
Title odds: 33-1.
