Ground: Home Park
Capacity: 19,630
Last season: 13th
Manager: Kevin Hodges
Ins: Paul McGregor striker from Nottingham Forest, free; midfielder Chris Leadbitter from Torquay, free; Wayne O'Sullivan midfielder from Cardiff City, free.
Outs: Ronnie Mauge midfielder to Bristol Rovers on Bosman; Simon Collins defender to Macclesfield, free.
Chances: Home Park is not a haven of great anticipation for the coming term. The Pilgrims are more likely to be involved in prayers for their favourites rather than optimism as the club seeks to attempt the basement campaign further shorn of vital experience. Cash to buy is almost non-existent for manager Kevin Hodges, so he will have to rely on a crop of youngsters trying to force the pace. If they come off then Hodges will be hailed, if not then he could be expelled. Much could depend on whether last season's top scorer Dwight Marshall ends his contract dispute and the form of former Cardiff midfielder Wayne O'Sullivan, a key figure in the Welsh club's promotion campaign last season.
One to watch: Barrington Belgrave. Great name, and a great future in store if the 18-year-old forward maintains the promise shown as an intermediate. Big and strong.
Title odds: 12-1.
