Born: Nottingham, April 12 1964. Experienced central defender who joined City from Notts County during the summer after a successful loan spell at the end of last season. A former England B and under 21 international he began his career at Nottingham Forest before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 1987. Two years later he was transferred to Leeds United and helped the Elland Road club win the championship in 1991/92. He spent three sessions with Bolton Wanderers before signing for County. Appointed club captain for the 1999/2000 season, but suffered a bad knee injury midway through the season. Made his 500th League appearance in his first match of the 21st century, the 0-0 draw at Southend.
