STEVE Hepples ran to victory in the 16th Wigginton Road Race on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Loftus AC athlete took his colleagues to an overall team victory as he was first to take the tape in the 10k race in 31 minutes 24 seconds.
The high quality field of 268 included the course record holder, John Hunter (Loftus AC), who finished in seventh place.
K Pattison came in eighth to lead Loftus to the team prize.
Leading Rotherham Harriers to the second team place was R Watkinson in a time of 31.33 giving him second place overall.
Knavesmire Harriers were the most successful of the York runners with Jon Pavis leading the way in sixth place.
Knavesmire's women finished second behind Scarborough in the women's team race, Christine Shouksmith being the leading runner for the York-based Harriers.
In the 3k race for seven to 12-year-olds, there were 110 enthusiastic finishers. There was also a well-supported 5k race for 13 to 15-year-olds.

Best placed local runners: J Pavis (Knavesmire Harriers) 6th, D Chippett (Knavesmire Harriers) 10th, A Beavers, (Knavesmire Harriers) 14th and B Duncan (Nestl Rowntree) 16th.
Women's 10k - 1 L Brown (Scarborough) 38.10; 2 S Garrod (Goole) 38.49, 3 J Hindley (Rotherham) 39.41.
Best local runners: C Shouksmith (Knavesmire) 41.24, 88th; A Wrigglesworth, Knavesmire 41.28, 90th.
Ladies team: 1 Scarborough, 2 Knavesmire.
