THE only shock at Carpvale was that Dave Wright failed to notch his sixth successive victory.
The Armley Angling man took his fifth win in fine style in the midweek event when he bettered his own lake record set the week before.
After drawing the same peg three position he worked with pole and corn, fished at mid-depth, taking carp after carp for a straight 125-0-0.
The backing weights weren't bad either with Steve Willis taking second with another all-carp haul of 88-8-0 from peg 49 and Mark Wade recording 63-6-0 from peg one.
Steve Haw (Normark) topped the 40 pegger from peg 12 at Carpvale on Sunday.
Fishing long pole tight to the island he alternated meat and corn fished on the bottom with floaters on the surface taking 15 carp for his winning 56-8-0. Darryl Taylor (MAP Elton) was second from peg 35 where he fished pole and paste across to the features for 54-3-0 of carp.
Other leading weights were taken by Mick Addinnall (Spectrum York) 42-4-0, Mark Wade (Team Daiwa Armley Angling) 40-9-0, Dave Armitage (Normark) 40-4-0 and Dave Wright (Team Daiwa Armley Angling) 38-14-0.
The Raker open went to the consistent Dave Ward (Dick Clegg Ossett), who fished corn on peg one. Switching lines between the far bank and nearside cover he netted small carp for 27-10-0.
Gary Matthews (Castleford) was on peg four and fished long pole with meat and paste for a carp bag of 26-0-0.
Others: Simon Keddy (Dick Clegg Ossett) 19-12-0, Paul Cannon (Tommos Tackle) 18-2-0, Grant Walker (Anglers Corner) 17-8-0 and John Cosgrove (Anglers Corner) 17-0-0
Organiser Mick Herrington (Headingley Angling) topped Sunday's open on Poplar Lake at the Oaks fishery, Sessay. Drawn on peg three he fished at 13 metres with corn to net three decent carp plus lots of smaller samples for his 25-12-0.
Others: Rob Ogilvy 19-0-0, Geoff Cross 18-0-0, Paul Taylor 16-12-0 and Mel Sykes 16-3-0.
Sunday's Oaktree match went to popular Acomb Tackle proprietor Mick Brind. Drawn on peg he took 42-8-0 of small carp on pole and maggot. Dave Cheetham took second with 37-12-0 from peg 45 while Tom Gausden was third with 36-4-0.
The previous day had seen Chris Jewitt triumph with 63-8-0 off peg three beating of the challenge of Steve Cromie who took a level 43-0-0 from peg 48.
