The young voices of St Wilfrid's Primary School in York won last year's BBC Radio York Christmas Carol Competition, and they have now given £200 of their prize money to the St Leonard's Hospice Millennium Appeal.
The choir, with their teacher and choir trainer Gabrielle Hutchinson, presented the cheque to David Winpenny from the hospice.
Mrs Hutchinson retired from full-time teaching at the school at Christmas, and she went out in a blaze of glory with the competition win.
The school, which is a regular supporter of St Leonard's, is no stranger to success, as its choir has won the Radio York contest twice before, and it took part in a concert broadcast from Selby Abbey as well as being filmed for BBC Look North.
It was also invited to take part in the opening of the York Early Music Festival's new centre at St Margaret's Church in Walmgate last Friday.
Janet Morley, fundraising organiser at the hospice, said: "St Wilfrid's has always been very willing to help St Leonard's in any way they can, and we are delighted that they have thought of us again by donating money from their special prize to our appeal.
They have a super choir and fully deserve their continuing success.
