THE TAXI cab kiosk at York railway station and the clock tower and score indicator board at York Racecourse may not be as famous as the city's leading landmark, the Minster.
But they will help put York on the global map when they feature together on a new Images of England Internet site.
The site was launched today as a record of the 360,000 listed buildings around the country at the end of the 20th century.
Some listed buildings from York include the indicator board and clock tower at the racecourse, the Debtor's Prison in the Castle Museum, the taxi cab kiosk at York Railway Station and the Minster.
Barry Lane, a volunteer photographer and chairman of the Royal Photographic Society, said Images of England was not trying to produce timeless architectural images but rather capturing a sense of the reality of how these parts of the nation's heritage appear in their everyday settings.
You can view the site on www.imagesofengland.org.uk.
The project is backed by a £3.09 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
