Doctors have advised York's British Touring Car Championship driver James Thompson against taking part in the May Day competition at Thruxton.
Thompson is still suffering the effects of a serious accident at Brands Hatch on April 9, when his Honda Accord spun off the circuit and hit a tyre wall at 120mph.
He walked away from the accident, but was then found to be suffering from concussion.
"I have seen a specialist and I have been advised to carry on resting," he said last night.
"Obviously I'm very disappointed and frustrated, but I have been told that if I return too soon I could cause long-term damage."
Thompson also missed the Easter Bank Holiday rounds of the championship at Donington Park.
Honda are banking on Thompson being well enough to return to the championship at Knockhill, Scotland, on May 13 and 14.
It was at that circuit a few years ago that Thompson was involved in a crash that kept him out of racing for several months.
