ONE, two, three, four, five...
Farmer Fred Ruston of West Knapton, between Malton and Scarborough, displays for our photographer a rarity.
This lamb was born about two weeks ago with an extra leg. Fred, of Wath Farm, said the five-legged creature was perfectly healthy and could walk fine, despite having an extra limb.
The extra leg is smaller than the male lamb's others and hangs from the same joint as one of its front legs.
It is also unusual in that the hoof on the fifth leg is divided into three, rather than the normal two.
Fred said: "The lamb is fine, to him it's normal, he doesn't know any different. It's got a lot of meat on it for its age."
He said his family had farmed at West Knapton for many years. "This sort of thing is quite unusual - I've never had this happen before."
Fred's mother has christened the lamb Jake, after the song Jake the Peg.
