AN EVENING of music and song has raised more than £2,000 for a cancer charity.
More than 100 people attended the Daffodil Day Soiree, organised by the Rotary Club of York, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care in York.
The audience at the Merchant Adventurers Hall was treated to performances by Daphne Moody and others, including trumpet solos, opera and light-hearted monologues. Susie Fothergill, area fundraiser for the charity, said: "It was a superb evening and we are most grateful to York Rotary for their support, and especially to Jim and Rosemary DeLittle who put in so much work to make the event a success.
"Of course Rosemary knows all about the work of Marie Curie since she was one of our nurses up until her retirement last August."
Marie Curie nurses provide nursing care to people with cancer in their own homes in York and around the country.
