A family is looking for a new house because of the problems with gangs of nuisance youths in the Chapelfields area of Acomb, York.
Margaret Longley and her son Michael, aged 11, with their fence which was wrecked by a gang.
Margaret Longley, of Bramham Avenue, Chapelfields, was woken at around midnight last Friday by shouting outside her house and went to the window to investigate.
She said: "We've got a front fence which is about 15ft long and they've totally ripped it out.
"There was a gang of six to eight local youths out there and they just ripped it up."
Margaret, who works for First York as a tour guide, also condemned the actions of the youths who have been causing trouble on buses in the area. The Evening Press reported last week that police officers are now to travel on the buses.
Margaret said: "The crews that come up here are a real nice set of guys and they like the normal type of people up here, but before long they're not going to want to come up here simply because of these youths.
"They make it impossible for everybody.
"We're looking for a new place and our neighbours moved out for the same reason."
A police spokeswoman said there had been a number of public order incidents reported on the Chapelfields estate on Friday night while officers were managing an incident in Barkston Close, and that the incidents were currently being investigated.
