Reader's letter

Do I detect a mocking tone to your comments about William Hague's proposals to detain so-called asylum seekers in a secure place?

Are you sure that his proposals are not broadly in line with the opinion of the British people?

It was reported in my Sunday paper that gangs of Eastern Europeans have committed at least 14 robberies in five counties in Southern England.

Don't we have enough robbery problems with home-grown thieves without allowing people who should be grateful that they were not kicked out of Britain immediately to rob us?

Jack Straw said there would be a 'fast track' decision on the passengers converted to asylum-seekers on the Afghanistan hi-jacked plane, most were told that they could not stay. Does anyone know where they are now?

William Hague's proposals are right.

As for the Zimbabwe white farmers, apparently most are British by descent and it has been reported that 20,000 hold British passports. Something your paper should have known.
