Reader's letter
In January, my friend and I dined at an Indian restaurant in the city, payment was made by credit card and unfortunately I allowed the waiter to take the card out of my sight. The total bill was £80. I have just received my statement and find that I have been charged four times that amount. The card had been 'swiped' four times bringing the total to £320.
I have been back to the restaurant and demanded the extra £240 back, which I have received.
But I wonder how many tourists may have lost out in the same way and have not been in a position to personally demand the money back. I should be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar problems. The wise thing of course is to always keep your eye on your credit card.
