The City of York Council aims to make it easier to get information about bus services.
Over the last 18 months we have introduced a telephone helpline Businfo 551400, an Internet journey planner, and earlier this month opened a Businfo Centre at 20 George Hudson Street.
A number of your readers have raised questions about bus timetables in new bus shelters.
All the new shelters incorporate a large information display case.
The council will produce and install timetables and information signs at city centre stops; examples of these can be currently seen at the rail station and Piccadilly.
The bus companies are responsible for placing the timetable information at all other stops around the city.
We have had a busy period where a lot of new bus stops and shelters have been built and it is therefore taking a little longer than we would like to bring all of the new displays up to date.
I hope your readers will bear with us while we produce and install the information.
Your correspondent of April 15 expressed her views about the new advertising bus shelters in the city.
In addition to funding new shelters, the advertising income has enabled the council to provide all the new information services I have outlined at no additional cost to the local taxpayer.

Principal Transport Planner (Operations),
