A TRY two minutes from the end of their final match gave Selby Rugby Union Club Under-10s victory in the Selby Festival tournament to complete a season in which the Under-10s won 35 and lost only three of their 41 games.
Selby beat Pocklington in their last game of the Festival, Jack Guest crashing over for the winning try with only two minutes remaining.
In their opening game Selby came from behind to win 20-5 against Harrogate, who Selby had never beaten before.
After Harrogate had scored a try Selby responded with tries in quick succession by Iain Adamson, Luke Winstanley, Jack Guest and Jack Kenworthy. In their next game Selby beat Moortown 10-0 with two tries by fly-half Guest.
Selby ran amuck in their third game, with seven tries against Huddersfield.
Guest got two of the tries, and Kenworthy, Adamson, Richard Gibson, James Newnham and Matthew Wood each scoring one.
Selby Under-10s' playing record for the season was: played 41, won 34, drawn 3, lost 3, points for 945, points against 220.
They won Selby Festival, Moortown Festival (for the third season in a row) and were Yorkshire Cup runners-up.
