A YORK man has created a website to tell the story of how a self-build homes scheme on the former York carriageworks site went badly wrong.
Self-builder Richard Gant, of Lindsay Avenue, who lives with his girlfriend Lynn Green and young son Jordan, decided to create the site after people kept asking him why the scheme at Holgate Park had not been completed.
"This website is a warts and all look at the whole project from start to finish", Richard said. "There's always two sides to every story and this is my side."
Internet surfers are given the opportunity to put questions to Richard about the scheme over the web.
The Evening Press reported recently how the scheme had folded with the properties only half-built.
Building contractors are scheduled to complete the 11 homes later this year.
The York Housing Association still intends that all self-builders will have first refusal on the properties, but says it cannot guarantee it.
Richard added: "I hope the website will educate other self-builders. I loved it on site. There was a great atmosphere and I miss the laughs we used to have. I'm still stuck in a one-bedroom flat and hope to get the house."
You can visit Richard's website at www.hpsba.btinternet.co.uk from next week.
