SNAKES and dinosaurs will be on the menu at the Yorkshire Museum this Easter.

The museum, in York's Museum Gardens, has laid on several special events specifically designed to keep children entertained over the school holidays.

From Tuesday until Friday, April 28, the museum will be hosting snake days and dinosaur mornings. Stuart Ogilvy, assistant curator of natural sciences and natural history, will be giving the lowdown on snakes from 2pm to 3pm (except Thursday when the time changes to 1pm to 2pm.)

Said Corina Inverno, of the museum: "If you have ever wanted to know how to look after a snake, what to feed it, how to hold it and when not to hold it, then snake day will be very informative."

The dinosaur mornings start on Wednesday at 11am, with Dr Phil Manning, keeper of geology at the museum, filling visitors in on some fascinating facts about prehistoric creatures. They will also be able to see a new exhibit of a cast of a partial skeleton of an ichthyosaur.

The museum is open from 10am to 5pm and admission is £3.95 for adults and £2.50 for children. For York residents, admission costs £2.75 for adults and £1.45 for children.
