Line dancing and the Internet may not seem like obvious partners but one North Yorkshire man has successfully combined the two.
Danny Hellawell, from Norton, holds line dancing classes from Easingwold to Old Malton and is also responsible for the Wild West web site. Danny said: "People thought I could get the instructions across and picked it up quickly so they asked me, 'why don't you teach?'."
At the time Danny was unemployed so he decided to give it a go as a full-time job. Three years later he is anything but short of work. "This is how I make a living. I have got seven clubs in all. I work six nights a week and one afternoon."
Not content with teaching and learning the moves, Danny knows about 500 routines in total, he taught himself how to use a computer and constructed the web site dedicated to his favourite style of dance.
The Internet site contains pictures of Danny's club members, maps showing where the clubs are held, advertisements for shops selling Wild West merchandise, and details about dance steps.
Anyone interested in seeing Danny's web site should go to www.dhellawell.fsnet.co.uk. Alternatively, call him on 01653 693194.
Danny is helping organise a charity evening in aid of Candlelighters, the children's cancer unit at Leeds General Infirmary on Saturday, May 6, at St Peter's Church Hall, Langton Road, Norton at 7.30pm. The price is £3 on the door and music will come from live band Washburn Creek.
