Children will always make a beeline for unhealthy food. Without adult intervention, many would struggle to name a vegetable other than the chip. So it comes as no surprise to learn that food producers target youngsters with snacks full of their favourite ingredients: fat, sugar and salt. Some parents may be shocked that even supposedly wholesome products, such as yoghurts, are nothing of the sort. They should follow this simple rule: if a child asks for a snack by brand name, assume that it is thoroughly bad for them.
