Reader's letter
There is little doubt in my mind that had a vote been taken at the end of the public meeting in Nawton about GM crops at Beadlam Grange, the majority of the audience would have voted against this project (April 13).
Applause for the proposal came only from a handful of farmers clapping each other and thus, sadly, isolating themselves still further from the community they used to influence.
There was no mention of the security company which the national press has indicated will be employed to safeguard every GM site. Hopefully they will protect the interests of the village as well as the farm.
