What am I to make of York's new bus shelters? They don't tell me anything about bus services, and they don't shelter anyone.
That's been amply proven during last week's icy blasts.
My ideal bus shelter has seats (not a skinny plank to perch on); and is vandal-resistant and draught-proof.
It clearly displays bus numbers and an up-to-date timetable. But these new shelters are free, I'm told. You can't convince me that means 'good, and for nothing'; it doesn't. It means good-for-nothing. Bus shelters in name; advertising panels in fact.
Putting them at bus stops is insulting. Give them all back and build bus shelters that do the job they're meant to.
