Reader's letter
In reply to Ann Usalis's letter 'Treated With Contempt' (April 10), given that swimming fees is a very complicated subject when you include the loyalty card, I am not surprised she has got some of her facts wrong.
The committee report of March 9 gives all the relevant information. Ann maintains the old price for a loyalty card swim was £1.10 when in fact the correct price was £1.05, the new price is £1.60 not £1.10.
Ann is correct about the cost of loyalty cards, old price £8.40, new price £12.80, so by using the loyalty card offer the price of a swim becomes £1.28 giving a discount of 32p (the old price was 84p which was a discount of 26p).
The prices have gone up in line with the budget approach to protect front line services, but the loyalty card offers an even better discount than before. So the point of Ann's letter, pay-as-you-go and forget 'loyalty', is entirely incorrect.
We are still the cheapest in the area.
