Representative honours are on the cards for a quintet of Heworth Amateur Rugby League Club players this Sunday.
Tom Mercer is in the Yorkshire League Under-16 team to face South Africa at Featherstone's Lionheart Stadium, while Danny Sinclair and Matt Corr are included in the League team for the corresponding Under-18 fixture.
On the same day, Heworth's Elm Park Way ground will be hosting two Yorkshire Junior League matches against the North West Counties League at Under-13 and Under-15 level.
Heworth pair Mathew Derry and Adam Snowball have both been selected for the Under-13 squad and, after impressing in trial matches and practice sessions, will be hopeful of earning a place in the starting line-up.
Heworth coach Peter Walsh is manager of the Yorkshire Junior League teams while the Villagers' physio Charlie Brice will be tending the players.
Rejuvinated York Acorn will move to within one point of safety if they can pull off another sensational victory at Dewsbury Moor on Saturday.
Three wins from their last four games have given Acorn an unexpected chance of avoiding the re-election zone. But to do so they must win both their remaining matches - the other is at home to Crosfields - and hope Castleford Panthers lose their only remaining game.
It is a tall order but Acorn's recent form suggests they could complete what would be remarkable escape.
A one-point win at Hull Dockers lifted the Blue and Golds off the foot of the table for the first time this year and they now have their sights set on third bottom Panthers, who are without a game this week.
Last week Acorn were boosted last week by the return of second-rower Gary Endersby whose solid tackling and direct running was a big asset. He has missed a big chunk of the season due to Army commitments.
New Earswick All Blacks could put a spanner in Waterhead's promotion works at White Rose Avenue (kick-off 2.30pm).
Eastmoor are almost guaranteed the second division championship but second placed Waterhead are one of three teams vying for the other promotion spot.
All Blacks will give a late fitness test to half-back Mick Harrison who missed their last match two weeks ago with a groin injury.
Bottom club New Earswick 'A' are at home to Leeds Social in Yorkshire League division four (kick-off 2.30pm).
Heworth's first team are without a game but their 'A' team are at Milford 'A' in Yorkshire League division three.
All Blacks waiting
