A teenage son is awaiting sentence for wounding and his father has been bound over at York Crown Court.

Scott Paul Tennant, 18, had originally been charged with attempting to murder Richard Lewis in The Groves in March last year.

His father, Paul Stephen Tennant, 49, was charged with wounding Mr Lewis with intent. But before both men appeared together in the dock at York Crown Court, the Crown Prosecution Service reduced the charge against the son so both faced the same allegation.

The son pleaded guilty to wounding without intent, a lesser charge. Both men used to live in Rudston House, The Groves, though the father has since lived in Acomb and the son in Hull.

Jeremy Hill-Baker for the prosecution accepted the plea and then asked for the father to be bound over.

Judge Alan Goldsack QC bound the father over for a year and formally entered a not guilty verdict against him.

He adjourned sentencing the son until 11 May at Sheffield Crown Court for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

He heard that the son has no previous convictions, but a caution for an unrelated matter.
