Wigginton Grasshoppers clinched the Leeper Hare York and District League first division championship with a 2-1 win at Kartiers, the only other team capable of pipping them to top spot.

After a goalless first half Colin Hodgson gave Kartiers the lead from the penalty spot. Tom Matthews equalised and Carl Young hit the winner for Grasshoppers. Nestle Rowntree won 4-2 and finally destroyed any lingering promotion possibilities for Thorpe United. Steve Blake hit two with Andy Lawson and Andy Kennedy bagging one apiece for 'Trees. Dean Wood and Lee Taylor replied for Thorpe.

St John's College opened the scoring from the penalty spoton the hour against Wigginton Black Horse but ten minutes later Mark Simester equalised in a goal mouth scramble. Paul Jennings then headed Black Horse's winner from a corner with ten minutes to go.

Civil Service keeper Dermot Kelly gifted Fulford the opening goal when he completely miskicked a 30-yard back pass but his team responded in style.

The equaliser came when a long throw in by Martin Reagan forced the Fulford centre half to ahead the ball into his own net and then Alex Livie netted twice to put Service 3-1 up at the break.

Mark Dawson, newly promoted from the Reserves, provided the pass for Livie to complete his hat-trick and put the game beyond Fulford although they came back strongly at the end and were rewarded with a Carl Hodgson goal in the final ten minutes. Dermot Kelly, the Service keeper, had chance to make amends for his early blunder as he pulled off two fine saves to deny Fulford.

Post Office hit six at Stamford Bridge after the home side had taken the lead through Mark Tomlinson. An own goal put Post Office back on level terms and then they cut loose with three from Andy Bonarious, one from Derek Grant and a penalty from Matthew Knowles.

The only goal of the game between Copmanthorpe and Barmby Moor was credited to the Copmanthorpe 'keeper as he managed to deflect a cross by Barmby's Matt Beevers into his own net with two minutes remaining.

Riccall and South Bank are promoted from division two after both had resounding wins.

Riccall hit five without reply at Stillington. The game was even for most of the first half but Alan Jackson scored twice for Riccall in quick succession just before half time. In the second half Riccall were in command with Jackson netting two more goals and Sean Steward completed the scoring.

Title rivals, South Bank, went three better as they hit eight past Hemingbrough, again without reply. Their scoring came from Simon Kehoe(2), Shaun Turner (2), Nick Shaw (2) and an own goal. Shaw had the distinction of scoring Bank's 100th league goal of the season.

Moor Lane are deep in relegation trouble after losing 5-3 at home to Huby. Two down by half time, the Lane were desperately unlucky, having hit the post twice. Huby increased their lead in the second half before the home side staged a fight back to get within one goal of their opponents before Lee Brogan came on as a substitute and hit Huby's fifth. Huby's other goals came from Matt Thompson (2), Richard Jennison and Mark Brogan. Mark Haig (2) and Mark Wakelam scored for Moor Lane.

Scott Griffiths (2), Jamie Walton (2) and Simon Ashton were on target as White Horse won 5-1 and gained revenge on Norton for a defeat earlier in the season.
