Reader's letter

Rodney Hills and Dave Merrett are moaning about the pressures involved in being a councillor (Council Catalogue Of Abuse And Long Hours', April 5).

I suggest that the answer is simple: they can resign immediately.

This will solve their problems and also relieve the public of the dubious benefits of their regime.

I am sure they won't do this, however, because the satisfaction of imposing their blinkered, politically correct policies on 170,000 citizens must easily outweigh these pressures.

Seriously though, the message comes across loud and clear. This is simply a piece of softening up propaganda in advance of measures to introduce salaries for councillors at considerable public expense. We are not fooled!
