Reader's letter
The letter on the disgraceful state of public conveniences in the city, (March 27) was followed soon afterwards by your report on our authority's efforts to attract even more tourists to York.
Someone is being very nave to think that any tourist would want to return while these basic facilities shame us all.
Perhaps a group of councillors could volunteer to rely on such services for just one day then they would surely be shaken out of their complacency and be more sympathetic to visitors' reactions.
Radical improvements would be far from cheap but, for the sake of common decency, there must be some prioritising as a matter of urgency.
