Reader's letter
I have just received the 2000-2001 Saga Holidays brochure for their cruise ship Saga Rose, which sails out of Southampton.
I was appalled that their specimen menu read: 'Rack of New Zealand Lamb'. I have written to Saga at their Kent headquarters to complain about this, pointing out the dire straits our farmers are in, some going bankrupt, some giving up farming and the numerous suicides. I said they ought to be supporting British farmers by buying British lamb and beef adding that I presumed they were buying New Zealand because it's cheaper. I demanded an explanation.
I have told them that I will not be booking with them - I wonder how many over-50s who travel with Saga realise what they are doing by not supporting our farmers.
