FLOWER POWER: Mollie-Rose Rowley, aged four, with the black roses at Wiggington Nurseries' stall Picture: Frank Dwyer
A rose for a rose...Mollie-Rose Rowley, from Pocklington, checks out the newly-reintroduced black roses at Wigginton Nurseries' market stall in York. After a decade's absence the unusual, but perfectly natural black rose, has made a return in time for Mother's Day.
Wigginton Nurseries has reintroduced this old variety after a long period of recovery followed exhaustive cutting.
The flowers are imported from Holland, where they were deemed suitable for auction under a month ago.
