Fulford Tennis Club are to officially open their new third court on Sunday, April 9.

Called the Millennium Court, it has been built next to the club's two other courts in Fulfordgate, York.

BBC Radio York presenter Ellie Fiorentini is to perform the opening ceremony, with guests from the Lawn Tennis Association and the Sports and Arts Foundation in attendance.

The Fulford club, founded in 1949, have 70 senior, 15 intermediate and 30 junior members, and last season were the most successful club in IT Sports York and District Mixed Doubles League.

The first team retained the division one title while the second team topped division four and the third team division five.

Fulford's men's team also won division three of the Yorkshire League while the club also had teams competing in the Tyke Petroleum Men's League and Fulford Invitation Ladies' League.

Fulford IV, meanwhile, were sixth in division seven of the York league, and although the new fifth team - made up of senior and junior players - came bottom of the table, the juniors gained valuable match experience.
