Police are searching for two couples after a taxi window was smashed because of a row over the price of the ride.

One of the male passengers smashed the window as he left the vehicle and the four made off but they were caught here on CCTV camera.

At around 11.50pm on January 22, the two couples were ejected from the taxi shortly after they got in because they became abusive.

A police spokeswoman said: "On getting out of the taxi one of the males smashed the near-side front window of the vehicle.

"The four were captured on CCTV talking to the taxi driver.

"Do you know them? Have they told you about the incident?"

The spokeswoman said the couples had ordered the taxi by phone and had been kept waiting for some time before it picked them up a few streets away from Station Road where the incident happened.

They had asked to be taken to Cayley Close, Rawcliffe.

The spokeswoman said £70 of damage was caused to the car but the driver was unhurt.

If you have any information which could help identify these people call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
